Here’s an interesting story about the potential of growing produce on rooftops. The concept, as advanced by two UW students, actually just won an entrepreneurial competition here on campus. Any possibility of using the new union’s currently empty rooftop space for such an endeavor?

Since we’re building a 100 year building, thinking about what form transportation will take in ten or twenty (much less 100) years is important. The possibility of commuter rail is a part of our discussion, but we’re also planning for a good number of underground parking stalls. Nissan recently announced it will be producing all electric cars by 2010. Maybe our parking ramp could be the 21st century equivalent of a gas station.
