The Daily Cardinal printed an article today stating that many students were unaware of the Breese Terrace Union. The BTU, as it is more affectionately referred to around the Wisconsin Union, is the temporary relocation for Union services on the west end of campus while the New South Campus Union is being constructed. It is home to a DoIT computer lab, a WII gaming center, coffee and snack service, student org space and administrative offices. Look to see some Wisconsin Union Directorate events in the BTU before the end of the semester.

Yesterday, the Badger Herald posted an article about projects around the UW campus, including an update on the NSCU building project.

Here are some take away quotes for the folks keeping score at home:

“…the new Union South Campus is coming along on schedule”

“…contractors have begun pouring the foundation for the building…to meet the February 2011 completion  date”

“The project is still right on budget”

In other news: expect new buttons promoting the NSCU in the near future.

The Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) selection process for the New South Campus Union began in Summer ‘09 and is in its final stages. The projected completion of the FF&E selection process is early October ‘09. There are still come crucial decisions to be made and student input is needed. Below is a schedule for the final 2 FF&E selection days:

Another academic year is upon us and here are some quick updates concerning the past few months:

-Groundbreaking for the New South Campus Union (NSCU) took place in June ‘09

-Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment selections for the building are projected to be complete in October ‘09

-The Advance Team was created to devote time towards planning for the opening of the building

-The Wisconsin Union Directorate will be planning how they will program the NSCU when it opens in Spring 2011
